[영어표현 몇가지]

1. we were just dotting our I's and crossing our t's.  = carefully

 우리는 꼼꼼하게 마무리 작업했어요. 

 

필기체를 쓴 후 i와 t에 마무리 하듯이 꼼꼼히 작업을 하다. 

 

3. that place is a ghost town now. Stores are completely deserted. 

 그곳은 지금 유령 도시에요. 가게도 완전 텅 비어 있어요.

 

4. I don't have any idea why people would stock up on bottled water right now. 

stock up 많이 사다. 사재기 하다. (= to buy or get a lot of something so that you can use it later)

 

5. people in the gig economy have been especially  affected by this economic slowdown. 

 - gig economy 긱 이코노미, 임시직 프리렌서경제((일자리에 계약직이나 프리랜서 등을 주로 채용하는 현상))  

 

6. It doesn't make sense.  that excuse just doesn't make sense. 

그건 말 안되요. 

 

8. She was a bigger than life. she was a bigger-than-life figure. 

현실적인 존재가 아닌 것 같다. 슈퍼히어로같은 사람

 

9. He has another thing/think coming.  큰 착각을 가지다. 

   It was a major miscalculation. 

 

11.  He didn't have an inkling of wha was waiting just around the corner.

  그는 곧 무슨 일이 닥치게 될지 전혀 눈치채지 못했다. 

- inkling : (일어나고 있거나 일어날 일에 대해) 눈치챔[느낌] (=suspicion)

 

 

12. She wasn't buying it. It seemed suspicious.

   그녀는 속지 않았다. 의심스러워 보였다.
